Rube Goldberd (seen on the right) is a man who invented Rube Goldberg machine. He started as a cartoonist and later worked for a company designing pipes. After he started drawing out lots of simple machines mixed together. That is how the Rube Goldberg machines were invented!
Sites-http://www.biography.com/people/rube-goldberg-9314372 Parts of a systemIn a Rube Goldberg machine it's a system. All of the parts in the machine work together to make a whole. In this case all of the individual parts are simple machines. Simple machines are very important and we would not be able to do the thing we do daily without them.
Group machine |
We got into groups and worked on building our own simple machines to combine together and make a Rube Goldberg machine. Ours was an wheel and axle that rolled forward and hit dominos which sent marbles down a ramp and hit a tennis ball the knocked down a stick with a skewer down towards a balloon and popped it. It only worked one time ,but sadly, it was not the predication to the class.

After we did our small group we did girls against boys and we won (well... At least in my opinion)! We decided to use our Smal groups idea of popping a balloon! It almost worked.
